College Soccer Advisory Program

Our College Soccer Advisory Program (CSAP) aims to guide athletes through the process of being scouted and recruited by college soccer programs, and is free of charge for club members. With the growth of our Chelsea Soccer Club, we have found many players in the last years of their youth soccer careers wanting to explore these possibilities. Our goal is to allow them to do so without the need of moving to another club in order to be successful. There are many different levels at which a college athlete can play at, so skill level should never be the reason an athlete does not join the CSAP as long as there is commitment and a passion for the sport. The program will be led by our Director of Coaching Matthew Clarke and our Director of Soccer Operations Dillon Woods.

The goals of the program are:

⚽To provide an overview of how college soccer works (NCAA D1, D2 & D3, NAIA & Junior Colleges).

⚽To explain the relationship between academics and athletics as well as scholarships and eligibility.

⚽To assess the athletic and academic potential of the player to help him/her understand his/her real possibilities.

⚽To guide athletes through the basics college soccer recruiting (communication with college coaches, recruiting profiles, ID camps, showcases, college visits, etc.).

The program will consist of group meetings with all participants (in person or virtual) every few weeks in which a different topic will be presented or a college coach will visit us. There always be a time to answer questions at the end. Small tasks will be assigned to participants after each group meeting. There will also be individual follow ups with the program leads. They will be tracking the progress of each individual and assessing his/her specific needs. The program will run during the academic year.

To participate, athletes need to:

⚽Be a current and non-delinquent Chelsea Soccer Club member.

⚽Be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school.

⚽Have an interest in exploring college soccer opportunities, even if they aren’t fully sure they want to pursue them.

⚽Have an open mind, a proactive mentality, and a willingness to learn new things.
