Weekly Testing Instructions

IF YOU ARE BEING TESTED THROUGH THE SCHOOLS, PLEASE SUBMIT THIS FORM INSTEAD. DISREGARD THE INFORMATION BELOW. THIS FORM NEEDS TO BE SUBMITTED WEEKLY.

Hello,
I hope you are having a great Easter. You are receiving this message because you have a son or daughter 13 or older in the club. As you probably know, the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) issued an order that requires all athletes between the ages of 13 and 19 to test for COVID weekly. As of today, the order is set to expire on April 19th. During that time, athletes need to get tested every 7 days, or otherwise they will not be eligible to participate in any club activities for that week. Unfortunately, athletes that have received COVID vaccines or that have had the virus recently are not exempt at this time.

We explored different possibilities to get this testing done. We have partnered with a lab in Ann Arbor (LynxDx) to use their locations for testing, which we think it’s the easiest and most convenient way to do it while at the same time being costless for our families. LynxDx performs saliva PCR tests that come back within 24 hours. The PCR is a molecular test, not an antibody test. They are the most accurate tests available (chances of a false positive or negative are very slim), and they perform them in a drive-thru set up. I have heard from a few people in Chelsea that have taken tests there, and ALL of them have told me it has been extremely easy, quick and convenient. The club will be able to see the names of our players that have tested weekly as well as the result of the test.

Beginning this coming week, players will pick a day of the week to get tested, and ideally stick with that day in the following weeks. Just remember that you cannot wait longer than 7 days to get your next test (e.g., if you test on Wednesday, your next test should take place Wednesday, but if for some reason you cannot get tested on that day, you would have to do it on Monday or Tuesday, not Thursday). For the first week (that starts tomorrow), players can test on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

Steps to follow

1. Register for testing at lynxdx.health/register

2. You will receive an email with a QR code. That email contains links to complete the following 2 steps.

3. Click ‘Create User Account’ and enter the required information. You will get an email to verify your email address; do that and login into your account. Then, scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says ‘Grant Access to External Organization’ and enter code ChelseaSoccer (not case-sensitive). If you do not follow this step, we will not be able to see your results and we won’t be able to report the results to the MDHHS.

4. The other email will allow you to schedule an appointment in one of their locations. Their closest location to Chelsea is on 648 S Wagner Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 (not even 20 min drive from Chelsea).

5. Once you test, you will receive your results through text and/or email in 24 hours. After the first time, you will just need to make an appointment weekly using your account.

A few important facts:

1. We have been guaranteed by the lab that you will NOT be billed by your insurance for the tests. Here’s what they said about it:

Washtenaw County has a standing order from the County Health Department that deems all covid tests medically necessary. Insurance companies are mandated to provide coverage for these tests, so there is no concern of them "turning away" any tests.

2. If you currently do not have insurance, please still go and get tested. They said they are working with federal funds to get these covered as well: you will not be charged.

3. While they will require you to make an appointment, we have been told that those are pretty flexible (i.e., it doesn’t matter much if you are early or late, and if you need to show up at a different time or even at a different day, that will work too).

4. It’s important to note that if your son or daughter are doing a school sport this spring, they will be tested weekly at the school. You will NOT need to get double tested each week. Instead, you’ll submit a weekly form.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions. We hope this goes smoothly, and while we understand this is adding more to your already busy schedule, we have to comply with these regulations so our kids can continue to do what they love, and it definitely adds an extra layer of safety.
