What is futsal?

Futsal is the official 5v5 version of indoor soccer regulated by FIFA. It’s played on a hard court without walls, with a smaller, low-bounce ball. This sport is proven to be the best possible tool for technical development. The surface, ball, and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity, and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces. It provides much more touches on the ball than any other soccer activity and it forces players to make decisions constantly. Countries such as Brazil, Argentina or Spain that have been extremely successful in international soccer have played futsal for years, and now a lot of other countries and the most important clubs in the US and outside the US are finally giving it the importance it deserves. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with Michigan Futsal Factory, one of the leading futsal organizations in the state and the country, because we strongly believe that this will help us develop our program the right way thanks to their demonstrated experience and the proven curriculum that all their competitive Academy teams follow. Thanks to this partnership, Drew "Ducks" Ducker, former professional player and Director of Futsal Factory will come to Chelsea to run some futsal clinics for some of our club members. How do we develop futsal

Each team will have a number of scheduled futsal training hours. Additionally, we will also have other events such as drop in futsal (we will provide balls, cones, goals and pennies, and any of our players is welcomed to show up and play!) and even 3v3 futsal tournaments, to which any of our club members can register, be assigned a team and play! Please click here for more information on the 3v3 futsal tournaments as well as registration.

What to bring

To all the futsal events, please bring shin guards, water and flat soled shoes. These can be any kind of flat sport shoes such as sneakers, tennis shoes, etc; although we recommend futsal specific shoes, which are basically soccer cleats with a flat sole. Also, if there is rain or snow outside, we ask that you please bring the shoes you are going to use in a bag and put them on before we get started to prevent the courts from getting wet. To futsal practices, please wear your CSC training shirt. You don't need to bring your soccer ball as we will be providing futsal specific balls for all events.

Competitive leagues

Our teams will also take part in a competitive league (futsal, indoor soccer or full size soccer) in the months after Christmas (this is not included in the club fees and will require an additional fee). Coaches will take the lead on this, so please talk to your coach and manager to learn more about the different possibilities.
