2022/2023 TRYOUTS | SATURDAY, JUNE 11At the Chelsea Soccer Club, we do our best to place every kid that tries out in one of our teams. Especially in younger teams, the only reason a kid would not be offered a spot would be because the rosters in his or her age group are maxed out, or because there aren't enough players for a new team in the age group.

FREQUENTLY ASQUED QUESTIONS
What sets us apart from other clubs?
We are a community-oriented club & a non-profit organization. We try to keep our fees as low as possible for our members while at the same time offering a high quality soccer program that strives to develop each of them through a positive & fun experience. We pride ourselves in being fully independent since 1994, and employ a set of curriculums that our coaches follow with the goal of enhancing the development of our players, and giving our club a unique identity.
What about tryouts? Do I need to be at tryouts?
This year, tryouts are Saturday, June 11 at the Chelsea HS practice fields (1 day only). Times by age group will be announced shortly, but expect them to take place in the morning and early afternoon. All players are expected to attend if available. If you cannot make tryouts, email the Director of Coaching ([email protected]) to make arrangements. The reason why returning players are expected to attend is to have the chance to re-evaluate them and also, because if new players come to tryouts they will want to see who they will be playing with before they commit.
Regardless of whether they can attend tryouts or not, new and returning players should register for tryouts.
Do you offer any scholarships?
We do. Families that can justify a financial need have always been awarded a partial scholarship in the past.
Do you offer payment plans?
Payment plans are available and can be set up when you accept a spot in a team.
How does a full season look like?
Our Fall season will begins in August with a 3 day pre-season camp (August 23-25). After that, teams will practice two times per week with an additional optional Technical Training session each week through late October. Teams typically have 4 home games and 4 away games and a tournament on each Fall and Spring seasons (except for 4v4 teams and 7v7 girls teams). During the Winter season teams have one to two futsal sessions per week (click here to learn more about our Winter season). The Spring season begins late March/early April and runs through late May/first week of June.
Why do the 7v7 boys play in tournaments, but the 7v7 girls don't?
In the last few seasons, we have strategically lowered some of the fees in the younger girls teams in order to attract new players to those teams, because the lack of new girls joining the club was alarming. Thankfully, those efforts seem to be paying off. We intend to progressively return to equal fees, but in doing so we did not want the jump from 4v4 to 7v7 for girls teams to be too high based on last year's fees, and so we decided to cut tournaments in 7v7 girls teams so we could keep their fees lower. With that said, if teams decide they want to take place in a tournament, they can do so by splitting the cost of the event amongst the number of players participating.
Do we need to purchase new uniforms?
We work on a two-season uniform cycle. All players returning from the 2021/2022 season will use the same set of uniforms and will NOT need to buy new uniforms. Any players new to the club will need to purchase uniforms. The cost for two adidas jerseys, a pair of shorts and a pair of socks is around $100.
How far are away games?
Generally the younger the team, the closer the away games. Most away games are 15 to 45 minutes away. Older teams playing in MSPSP may have to travel to further locations within Michigan.
Do you participate in any Winter leagues?
Last season, our teams participated in leagues in the Livonia Athletic District in Livonia. Other options include indoor soccer leagues at Wide World Sports Center in Ann Arbor. These leagues are not included in the fees and they come at an additional expense (last season, players participating in the Livonia league paid $75 for 7 games).
Do you offer goalkeeper training?
We offer several Goalkeeper Training sessions during the Fall and Spring seasons with an experienced goalkeeper coach.
